(ASE) has opened its fifth plant in Penang, aiming to double its IC packaging and testing capacity for AI and automotive electronics.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>The new facility expands ASE\u2019s production area to 315,870 square meters and will grow its workforce to over 6,000. CEO Tien Wu highlighted Malaysia\u2019s role as a key semiconductor hub, with the expansion strengthening the global supply chain.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>ASE\u2019s Penang operations will focus on image sensors, robotics, and automotive electronics. The company is also expanding in Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>Additionally, ASE is investing $200 million in a Kaohsiung production line for fan-out panel-level packaging (FOPLP), with trial runs set for later this year.<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc.
