Speaking at the Presidential Office to<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">leaders of award-winning biotech firms, Lai said their success highlights<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Taiwan\u2019s strong R&amp;amp;D and growing industry diversity.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">The sector reached a record US$25.6 billion last year. Lai pledged legal and<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">policy support to boost competitiveness and resilience amid global<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">challenges such as COVID-19, the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, and new<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">tariffs.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Under the \u201cNational Project of Hope,\u201d the Cabinet\u2019s Bio Taiwan Committee<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">will oversee development of the biomedicine sector.
