CIP Inaugurates Changfang-Xidao Offshore Wind Farms

CIP celebrated the completion of the Changfang-Xidao offshore wind project in Taipei, Taiwan. The two wind farms, with a total capacity of nearly 600 MW, increase Taiwan’s offshore capacity by 25%, aiding its energy transition and net-zero goals.

Located 11 km off Taiwan’s west coast, the farms feature 62 Vestas V174 turbines and jacket foundations by Century Wind Power. They will power 650,000 households and reduce CO2 emissions by 1.1 million tons annually.

These are CIP’s first offshore wind farms in the Asia Pacific, where it has a 21 GW offshore wind portfolio. CIP’s flagship funds CI II and CI III are majority owners, with minority stakes held by Global Power Synergy and Taiwanese insurers Taiwan Life and Transglobe Life.

CIP’s fifth fund, CI V, aims to invest €12 billion in wind, solar PV, and energy storage globally, with a significant portion in Asia Pacific.
