While the United States grappled with auto parts shortages, Taiwan’s aftermarket-focused suppliers rapidly grew thanks to adaptable manufacturing, accredited quality, and competitive prices. By 2022, the US made up 56% of Taiwan’s auto part exports, aided by a major insurer’s increased use of aftermarket parts.
The surge paved the way for Taiwanese manufacturers to move beyond aftermarket components into OEM production. Notable firms included Great Auto Parts, known for its high-tensile steering and suspension parts, and JOTA Group’s ISK Bearings, which excelled in fully automated, high-precision production.
