TECO Electric & Machinery, a prominent Taiwanese electric motor and appliance manufacturer, has implemented an internal carbon pricing (ICP) scheme, significantly exceeding the proposed governmental rates.
Chairperson Sophia Chiu reported that TECO’s ICP is set at US$49 per metric ton of carbon, aiming to reduce emissions and fund decarbonization projects.
Despite not being among Taiwan’s largest carbon emitters, TECO has committed to a Q% emissions reduction by 2025 and 50% by 2030.
Alongside ICP, the company is integrating sustainable practices across its operations, including renewable energy usage, energy-efficient manufacturing, and the development of energy storage systems.
Chiu emphasizes the importance of public awareness and support for sustainability, urging a collective responsibility towards greener practices.
