CMC will invest about $125 million to build a smart EV manufacturing center
in Yangmei, Taoyuan, next to its current plant.
The site will expand EV R&D and testing and adopt solar, energy-storage, and
AI inspection. The project supports supply-chain integration and a net-zero
2050 roadmap: cut facility emissions 30% by 2030 (vs. 2018) with renewables
at 25% of power, and 50% by 2040 with renewables at 55%.
By 2030, solar capacity across Taoyuan and Hsinchu will exceed 10 MW.
Product highlight: the ET35, Taiwan’s first fully electric 3.5-ton truck, uses
over 90% local parts, includes an in-house driver-assist system, delivers ~303
km range, supports ~35-minute fast charging, and is slated for H2 launch with
configurations for recycling, food-truck, and vending uses.
