Taiwan AI Certification Gains Momentum as Adoption Accelerates

More than 21,000 people have registered for Taiwan’s new AI Application Planner certification since its launch in 2025, reflecting growing demand for practical AI skills across industries. As of July 2026, 8,464 people had earned the certification, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).

Developed by the Industrial Development Administration, the program focuses on helping workers apply existing AI tools to improve business operations, rather than training AI developers. Officials said the initiative supports the government’s goal of expanding AI adoption across Taiwan’s industries, with AI adoption in manufacturing targeted to reach 50% by 2028.

To help businesses implement AI, the MOEA has trained hundreds of AI consultants and plans to assist 14,000 companies over the next two years through subsidized consulting services. Officials said the priority is encouraging companies to adopt AI solutions that best match their operational needs, helping narrow the technology gap between high-tech manufacturers and traditional industries.
