Taiwan is strengthening its position in the global software-defined vehicle (SDV) supply chain through a national AI Automotive Industry Alliance led by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The initiative integrates research, industry, and validation, aligning software innovation with Taiwan’s established hardware manufacturing strengths.
The alliance focuses on smart cockpits, autonomous driving, and vehicle connectivity, creating a coordinated ecosystem for AI-enabled vehicle platforms. Taiwan’s automotive electronics output is projected to exceed US$28 billion by 2029, supported by rapid expansion in AI-driven applications.
Supported by the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association and the Automotive Research & Testing Centre, the ecosystem combines cross-industry coordination with advanced validation and system integration. Collaboration with leading research institutes strengthens development and commercialization capabilities.
With global leadership in semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, and AI hardware, Taiwan offers an integrated, end-to-end platform for SDV development. The ecosystem enables efficient co-development, reduces fragmentation, and supports scalable production, positioning Taiwan as a strategic partner for global automakers.
