Taiwan Confident in Power Supply for AI Growth

Premier Cho Jung-tai affirmed on Oct. 29 that Taiwan’s power supply will be sufficient for the growing demands of its semiconductor and AI sectors through 2030, thanks to new gas-fired plants and expanded green energy sources.

The Energy Administration estimates a 12-13% increase in electricity demand by 2030, driven partly by AI. Consumption is expected to rise from 240 MW in 2023 to 2.24 GW by 2028. By 2030, Taiwan aims for 30% green energy, 20% coal, and 50% gas, ensuring ample economic and tech growth power.
