The National Development Council (NDC) announced that Taiwan has launched the Startup Island TAIWAN Silicon Valley hub in Palo Alto to help Taiwanese tech startups expand globally.
The hub offers consulting, co-working spaces, and networking opportunities, making it Taiwan’s second overseas startup center after Tokyo. At the launch event, NDC Minister Liu Chin-ching highlighted Taiwan’s strengths in semiconductors and AI, aiming to nurture 100+ startups and bring 2,000 professionals back to Taiwan.
Despite a global downturn, Taiwan’s startup funding grew 10% in 2024, reaching $846 million. The event also noted Nvidia’s plan to establish an “Asia headquarters” in Taipei, employing around 2,500 workers.
