Taiwan is emerging as a key player in the offshore wind energy sector, said Lucas Lin, Chairman of Synera Renewable Energy (SRE). The country’s approach is centered around a strong government framework, careful project development focusing on local ecosystems, effective management of contractors and supply chains, and a solid financial infrastructure supported by international and potential domestic financing.
Under these strategies, SRE is expanding its reach into the Japanese market, adding to its significant project capacity in Taiwan. The company is eyeing further expansion in Asia and Australia, adapting to various legal and infrastructural contexts. Taiwan’s commitment to renewable energy is evident in its ambitious goal of achieving 40-50GW in offshore wind capacity by 2050, positioning offshore wind and solar photovoltaic power as its primary green energy sources.
