Winbond Electronics has shipped its first batch of memory products made with renewable energy, marking a major step in reducing carbon emissions.
With electronics among the top industries contributing to global emissions, Winbond’s carbon accounting system tracks energy use across its entire supply chain. The company’s green products cut carbon emissions by 60% compared to standard versions.
Beyond manufacturing, Winbond has invested US$29 million in renewable energy. Its Central Taiwan Science Park facility now generates 660,000 kWh from solar panels, contributing to total energy savings of 456 million kWh and 4 billion liters of water since 2019.
