Taiwan’s new administration is planning to establish science parks in international regions, according to Economic Minister-designate J.W. Kuo. The Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA) reported that Kuo shared the plans during a meeting with its members.
The initiative aims to provide commercial opportunities for smaller Taiwanese companies within the supply chain, leveraging the presence of major Taiwanese enterprises in these regions. The government will facilitate foreign dealings to help medium and small enterprises establish overseas plants and offices, reducing barriers to international expansion.
TEEMA Chairman Richard Lee highlighted the rapid growth of Taiwan’s ICT industry, which reached a global output value of US$770 billion in 2022.
By 2027, the industry’s output value is expected to exceed US$1 trillion.
Kuo also assured TEEMA that he would review Taiwan’s overall power supply to ensure sufficient energy for industries and the public.
