Taiwan aims to raise drone industry output to more than US$1.25 billion by 2030, as the government moves to strengthen commercial and military UAV development and expand Taiwan’s role in democratic supply chains, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said.
The goal was outlined at a National Science and Technology Council conference. Chang Neng-kai, an official at the Industrial Development Administration, said policy measures include closer industry integration, cooperation with foreign partners, industry clusters, and regulatory upgrades to help firms secure international certification, according to CNA. The government is expected to allocate US$1.38 billion to support technology advancement and market expansion.
Taiwan hosts about 250 drone companies, with a supply chain spanning components, materials, modules, and assembly. Sector output reached US$158 million last year, while exports surged, led by Poland, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Authorities also plan new industrial parks, laboratories, revised regulations, and expanded testing facilities nationwide to support long-term growth.
